Yes the cover does click shut. I used it on a cruise where I constantly filled and re-filled with water and not once did it leak or spill after tipping over.

I knock this over a lot and haven’t spilled. As long as the lid is in place and the spill guard is closed, you shouldn’t spill.

Yes, very spill proof. The top screws on and then has a flap with a rubber stopper that fits very snugly in the top.
