• I purchased (from Amazon) the SIRIUS XM SXSD2 Portable Speaker Dock Audio system, which the unit pictured in your question (Sirius XM Onyx Plus) plugs (docks) into. Fabulous speakers!!!!!!!

• Not necessarily. If you already own a home audio system, you can feed the SiriusXM signal into the system by the use of its RCA inputs. Just take a feed from the Onyx's audio output located on its docking unit.

• You will need both speakers and an amplifier. The only function of this is to pull in and interpret the satellite signal. For instance, the one I bought is being played through a Bose radio , which satisfies both of these needs.
