The Controller has 3 buttons, effectively. +, - and the middle one. + & - control the volume. The middle button is the one that has the features you describe above. Also, triple clicking, at least with an iPhone, restarts the current song, in addition to the functions you noted above.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tapping the top or bottom should adjust the volume. Your product might be defective like mine was.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Rather than holding down the volume button, you could try simply pressing the top buttons.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The top and bottom buttons should control volume regardless if you click or hold. I had a similar issue and it was because the top and bottom buttons were sticking. I exchanged it for another pair and now it works perfectly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your using an Android device it will.not work because these earphones are made for Apple products, therefore if you use these on any other device the Volume Control will.not work, but the play/skip button will.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To change the volume, do not click in the middle = top increases volume, bottom decreases volume
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure if the volume can be changed using the buttons on the mic. Atleast not on Note II. I am sure its independent of the device. You can although, navigate through your play list one song at a time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Press either the upper or lower controller connected to the microphone to increase or decrease volume.
