I definitely would not recommend these for use while swimming. They don't appear to have the necessary protection, especially around the opening in the ear piece that points toward your inner ear, that would allow them to survive being submerged in water Water resistant normally implies the ability to withstand slight exposure to fluids, sweat while working out, running in the rain, or being dropped in a puddle; however, it is usually a hollow term in that there is no warranty to cover water exposure.
