“Trying to decide between (2) 6.1 systems (meaning 2 amps, 12 speakers and 2 subs) or the 8.1 system. I can the (2) 6.1 systems for $3400 vs $4400 for the 8.1. What do you guys think?”

I just went through that. I went with two 6.1 systems for the cheaper price and more coverage. I feel the extra sub makes a difference too. However, my understanding is that the 8.1 not only has a larger and more powerful sub, but the satellites are two way with better specs(on the 8.1) instead of one way (on the 6.1). For my use, I decided average listeners in my backyard would never discern the difference and the two 6.1 systems together sound great.
