In theory yes, aslong as it would not get wet from anything, you would also need to make sure the power cord doesn't get wet either. I had mine installed in my basement and did a direct line to the internet. The Best buy crew installed and drilled a hole about a quarter inch, which the wires run through and then you need to caulk it. They ran everything under my deck and no wires show.
