Hi, Thank you for your question. This system does not need an additional receiver. The Sonos amp powers the speakers, and the Sonos app is the source for the system. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You only need the Amp, it is controllable from the Sonos app on iOS and Android. You can also connect external equipment such as displays(HDMI for ARC) turntables and media players as well. We use Spotify, Apple Music, Tune In, Pandora, Sound Cloud etc. Sonos also has their own radio stations pre canned into the application that are really good. Its a great system and sounds very good outside!
