Hi, Thank you for your question. This speaker does not require the use of a Sonos amp; however, it is a passive speaker and will require an amplifier or A/V receiver to power it. In addition, the VP62 LCR is a full-range speaker, so it will reproduce low-end frequencies down to 45Hz. However, it's not a subwoofer, so you will need to purchase that separately.
