Product doesnt have a remote controller, you can use app, touch button on the product or tv's volume control (while it's connected with hdmi arc/earc or Bluetooth) It also works with some of the tv's ir remotes (most of the newest products e.g. Samsung one remote) For setting up better, app should be used (when you plug in to hdmi it automatically plays what's on TV). It is much more than a soundbar, it is an Alexa streaming device so you need the app to set up the device to your wifi and link to your Amazon and other streaming accounts. You can then use your phone also to control the sound. It also does airplay.
