You cannot control the Yamaha from the SONOS app. You will have to plug the SONOS into the Yamaha and the yamaha will have to be turned on for the SONOS to play music. Once you do that however, you can control the volume and music source from the app on your phone or tablet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It won't control the system. But you can control the output of the volume from the sonos and what it streams from an app.

If you are streaming music to your phone like for example from Pandora, then you have a Pandora account which during installation Sonos will access that account and then play it through ANY Sonos device. At my home I have been using Pandora, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM and other and when I purchased my first Sonos Player or Connect I sent up the Sonos "aps" for my existing music streaming services and then play them throughout my entire home by adding more Sonos Players or Sonos Connects! Totally Awesome and the since I have a Yamaha Sound Bar in my living room, a Denon AV Amp... I've connected the Sonos Connect to each of them so if I have a party I can play the same music on all systems. Also guests love picking music from my tablets or phone for themselves since the Sonos system connects to virtually every music service anywhere... as well as my home music server on my computer or iPad. Enjoy
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, that is how I use my Sonos Connect. You'll still need to turn on your amp/receiver. But the Connect is fully controlled by an app on your phone or tablet. The Connect will be able to integrate multiple sources like your phones, other media servers in your house, Pandora and Internet radio stations. It is a neat gizmo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I hooked to my Sonos up to a Yamaha receiver for my home theater system and was able to stream from there and group rooms with other Sonos speakers. The only issue you will have is setting the receiver to the right source remotely. This is the only drawback.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can depending on how many outputs you have it is relatively simple. One easy two or more can be challenging.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I added it to a Leviton whole-home system as an additional audio source.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Sonos Connect will allow you to hook up your whole house system to the Sonos eco system. You basically need to connect the out put rca audio from the Connect to an input on your Yamaha Receiver. Then select that input and hit play. This should let you use your phones to send signal to the Sonos Connect, and from the Connect, it would output to the whole house system. If this is at all confusing, I suggest reaching out to Sonos directly and they will guide you through the process. Sonos has fantastic customer service!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you can not connect your Sonos to other whole house systems.
