Think of the Sonos Connect as a network connected audio source or a Streaming Audio Tuner with connections to thousands of stations available. Its output is a stereo line level analog output, similar to what a CD player would output. This will NOT drive speakers on its own. I plug in Connects to older stereo amplifiers or receivers for an easy streaming tuner with audio volume control from my computer or laptop.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi The connect will only work with external speakers and an external amp.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In my audio setup, I have two interior bookshelf speakers and two outdoor speakers hardwired to my receiver. The outdoor speakers are set up under a separate zone on the receiver so they can play independent of the indoor bookshelf speakers. In addition, I have two Sonos Play 1 speakers in different rooms within the house. The Sonos Connect and Sonos Boost allow me to play back audio streaming on the Sonos interior network and also playback streaming on any of the hardwired speakers. It's my understanding that it you want to drive outdoor speakers directly through the Sonos network and not through a receiver, you would need a Sonos amplifier.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Connect is for providing the music input to an amplifier, which in turn powers the speakers. "Connect Amp" connects directly to speakers (i.e., the amp is part of it). YOu do not need any Sonos speakers. For example, if you just want to power outdoor speakers you can buy the Connect Amp. You don't need to also buy other sonos speakers for it to work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This device is an audio source only. It requires an amp and speakers to hear audio. Sonos has other products which have built in speakers.
