• Depends what you mean by "sonos system". The only time you need the connect amp is if you only have speakers and you need to power them. If what you have is the standard Sonos Connect, then you'll need to plug that into some type of stereo receiver or amplifier...not a Connect Amp. The connect amp is the Sonos Connect plus an amplifier built into one unit.

• only if you are adding speakers to your system that are not amplified speakers. if you are adding Sonos speakers you do not need the Connect amp.

• If you have speakers that you want to be a part of the Sonos system, absolutely. Mine allows me to have outdoor speakers connected to Sonos.

• Depends on what you are trying to do. Do you have your own speakers you are going to power? Or would you like to hook this up as a source to your own amplifier?

• Yes, if you want to use your own speakers. I personally do not like the sound of Sonos speakers. But, the amp with my favorite speakers is great.
