I have the google mini and the Sonos 1. Neither controls each other, but both are connected via the Google Home app and show as two seperate devices on the Google Assistant app. I have the mini in the kitchen and the Sonos 1 in the bathroom. Depending on my location, either one works seamlessly upon voice command. I can tell the Sonos 1 in the bathroom to play music and I can tell the Mini to pause the same music. Google Assistant routines works on both through the GI app.

For me the voice option is not important
