“I have three #5s. If I buy this voice speaker, I assume I will relocate one of the 5s and use this voice speaker as the one wired to the wifi modem, and that this new one will be the only one I can give voice commands to. Is that right?”

Mine is not wired to the wifi modem and is able to take voice commands for the entire Sonos system (playbase, sub, two sonos ones)

You will only be able to speak directly to the Sonos One as it has a microphone. However, you can issue voice commands for the other speakers through the One. For example, if you move a Play:5 to the living room and your One is in the office you would be able to tell whichever voice assistant you choose for the Sonos One to "Play X in the Living Room" and music would start on that speaker.
