• Depends. What are you wanting speakers for? If you're wanting surround sound buy 2 Play3s. If you're just looking to put a speaker in a big room the Play5 will do great. Just bought a Play5 for a large room in the house. It's perfect.

• Both options are great. I would go with 2 play 3's and set them up in stereo mode. The separation is great.

• I can't help with the smaller speakers since I don't have them but I can tell you that I love the 5. I have an open floor plan and it fills the rooms with lots of power and I am impressed by how the music sounds.
