• No, does not need to be plugged in to stream via Wi-Fi. Can use speaker running off battery power to stream on Wi-Fi

• Great question. Roam can connect to wifi regardless. It only goes on bluetooth if you want it to. We recommend wifi over bluetooth anytime wifi is available wether it's charging or not.
