“Can these speakers be played independently (e.g., the L speaker can be found on the Sonos app as a stand-alone)? Or...do the L/R only show up as 1 speaker? I want to place 1 on the side of the house and 1 on the back, and control separately.”

No. They are paired together and show up as one system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The speakers are passive. The Sonos AMP does not have independent zones. To accomplish your objective you would need two amps, or put in a switch on one of the speaker cables.
