It is digital. You will get a 16 digit email code usually within an hour that you will input into your account on the PlayStation Store.

I bought it in store and it's therefore physical. All four options for ordering online talk about shipping so it should be a physical card mailed to you (or pick up in store). This particular SKU/item (Sony - PlayStation Network $20 Gift Card - SKU # 8945804) is physical.

Digital and physical cards are available online. They are clearly marked. This one is physical.
