“How come if I play anything from my TV (Samsung) from Spotify/Pandora/Apple TV all my surround speakers work but when I go to Directv it’s only my front two? I must have a setting wrong on my receiver but can’t figure it out.”

try pressing the movie button on the remote. cycle through till you can hear sound from your speakers. make sure you are close to the other speakers rather than the fronts. the tone may be low.
