• The sub must be pre amped. 14 gauge wire will definitely fit.

• Hi Redd, yes, a wired subwoofer can be hooked up to this receiver, this receiver has two subwoofer ports. Additionally, 14 gauge speaker wires can be used with this receiver. Regards, -Mark
