Yes. Let the auto setup do it. It can tell how many speakers the system is feeding. Once it does the initial setup you can fine tune other settings as you see fit.

Connect to the ones you want to use and then select 3.1 as your preference in the receiver onscreen menu/speaker setup. You could save some $$$ and get the STR-DH550 allowing for up to 5.1...no need here for 7.2.
