Hi Raymond, For connecting your AV receiver to your TV, we recommend using HDMI connection. You can operate this receiver using the menu on the TV screen when you connect the TV to an HDMI OUT jack. I would say it has to do with your input jack. Are you using the HDMI connections between the receiver and your TV? The receiver needs to have the correct input set when watching the TV
