“I am trying to connect a Phillips Full HD LCD TV (1920 x1080p) to the sony STR DN1080 receiver. I Am using the HDMI output (I tried both A and B) just using an HDMI cable. The TV has no optical. i get sound but not video.”

Make sure you are using new highspeed 4K rated HDMI cables. I ran into the same problem and solved it by upgrading my cables.
