“I currently have a 7.1 speaker setup and would like to add up firing speakers for Dolby Atmos / DTS:X movies. Can the Zone 2 speaker channels be used for theses speakers, or as the channels for the rear surround speakers , to get a 7.1.2 speaker setup?”

No. You either get rear surrounds, or Atmos. It does have a phantom rear speakers setting to emulate 7 channels, though.

Please try again later.I have this receiver and I was just look for this question yesterday.. and sorry no you can't.... this is actually a 5.2.2 system with height channels..you can only do one at a time , 5.2.2 or 7.2 with back channel..Zone B (2) is using a different internal amp and can't be used simultaneously with Zone A..
