It does support Dolby Atmos! You must use HDMI, and you must go into your TV settings, and sound bar setting and activate higher quality HDMI.

It is capable of ATMOS decode from Dolby TrueHD and/or Dolby Digital Plus audio sources containing ATMOS object extensions. It also attempts to completely synthesize 7.1.2 channels of sound from non-ATMOS sources. The HT-X9000F's two HDMI ports are HDCP2.2/HDMI2.0a compliant and can pass through 4k-4:4:4/4:2:2-60p HDR+/Dolby Vision video, when you have such equipment and use HDCP2.2/HDMI2.0a cables. 1080p HD also passes. This device will not impede Dolby Vision signals, but it can only decode Dolby up to ATMOS and DTS up to DTS:X. BestBuy can be confusing...
