You can stand it upright or lay it down. We have it on a rolling stand where there is about 4 extra inches around all sides when it is upright. That has worked well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Either is acceptable, although I prefer the bass response when the unit is on the floor. Why would you want to add a speaker stand? Are you referring to extra speakers?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't think you can add a speaker, but I don't think it matters where you put it because it's so powerful and clear sounding, but if any, I would say the floor since bass sounds "rise".

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use it on the floor vertically and that was seems to project the sound further, unless of course you are going to out it on a shelf. There is no ability to put it on a speaker stand however.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for your question G. This is no best operating place. It's customer preference on where you would want to setup the Sony - 420W Portable Party Speaker System with Apple iPod and iPhone Dock. You can use a speaker stand, but it's not necessary. -Mimi
