I have an S3 and it connects to it perfectly fine. You are right the connection does not work as it is made for an IPhone or Ipod. Be sure to hit your connect button on the system and then allow the bluetooth on your phone to find it. I have had to disconnect my phone once or twice and connect it again, but it has never failed to connect correctly. I listen to music from You Tube videos as well as from Spotify on my phone while bluetoothed to the Sony!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hold down USB button untill it stays solid blue instead of flashing then the display should say paring then you should see sony come up on your phone

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Everything that has Bluetooth (my Motorola phone, iPod, iPad, HP headphones) all connect when I press the Bluetooth button on the speaker until it blinks which puts it in discovery mode. Then I do the same on the device I want to connect (however it needs to be put in discovery mode) and they find one another. There's a very short delay for the music to start.
