Hi CBusk, Thanks for your inquiry. Here are the information about the approximate width and height of this TV. Without Stand (width x height): 38 1/4" (970 mm) x 22 1/2" (645 mm) With Stand (width x height): 38 1/4" (970 mm) x 24 7/8" (704 mm) If you prefer to watch on apps, the TV supports streaming for Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, etc. You'll still need cable service to watch live news. You can also connect an antenna to your TV to get channels over the air, however, depending on your location, not all channels including news channels are available. Regards, Jess
