The wiring for individual cars can be challenging! There are three important wires for powering this unit. BAT Yellow ACC Red GND Black The Red wire is what turns on and off the unit. The Yellow wire keeps the functions such as station assignment in memory. Finding the right wires is always challenging. Either your red wire was connected a +12Vdc source that does not turn on immediately, or the ground is wired to a circuit that doesn't get connected until after a delay. I have found that wiring the RED and Black wires directly to the cigarette lighter/Power Outlet that is only powered when the car is on usually solves the problem. Using the existing car stereo wiring adapter sometimes gives unpredictable results.
