• It is Direct TV ready if you already Have Direct TV equipment. There is no Built in Direct TV box.

• No. It works fine, but for full DirecTV quality, you need to plug it into a HDMI port. The "TV" input is for the usual cable port which could be used but would sacrifice some of the resolution. I hope this answers your question.
