When connected to an audio system, TVs speakers will be disabled and cannot be used.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I disabled internal speakers and went with a Sonos Soundbase [not Soundbar which I tried first] I added 2 Sonos Play One for rear channels.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would add a soundbar/surround setup to it. Typically it would overide the systems internal speakers, but in most cases depending on what soundar you add to it, it would use both. The issue is that the surround speaks have nothing to connect to that is processing the audio to tell it specifically what its supposed to be receiving. That's what the soundbar does. Although you can add a bluetooth speaker to the TV, its not really intended for that, and typically has a really big delay in audio vs what is on screen for video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it can be used this way. I am doing it and it does pretty well. Wanted to use the small subwoofer in my apartment. A large sub would bother the neighbors.
