• A software update is most likely going to be available for the Androids. During setup you have a chance to perform an update. However, by scrolling to the bottom of the Apps screen, you are able to go to settings and there is a section for software update listed there.

• Yes, I had to perform a firmware upgrade - only after I thought about it. It's extremely easy. I used an ethernet cable. The upgrade to less than 5 minutes if I recall correctly - it was relatively quick.
