Yes, there is a microphone for the video recordings. There are two small elliptical shaped recesses on the front of the body, just above the lens. Those house the microphone.

So to answer your question, there is one and it works fantastically. Depending on what you are doing, your quality is going to change. Like all internal mics, you are going to pick up EVERYTHING around you than if you used an external, ect. However, it is really lovely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJo4be9PEPo This is a good link to hear the mic from just pure nature sounds.

It is two small slots over the lens. The footnote says "For details on compatible accessories for the multi interface shoe and the Multi/Micro USB terminal, visit the Sony web site, or consult your Sony dealer . . .You can use accessories that are compatible with the accessory shoe. Operations with other manufacturers' accessories are not guaranteed." The multi interface shoe is next to the flash on top. I assume that if you wanted a 'better' microphone or specialized one that is where you would attach it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does record sound, and, given that it's a Sony, remarkably nicely.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does record audio just doesn't have a jack to plug a microphone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, there is no microphone. You have to use an external recorder for audio.
