Hello blueridge457, this camera can absolutely do the job, for portrait our 50mm, 55mm and 85mm are great, the focal length really depends on personal preferences (for 50mm we have the SEL50F18F and SEL50F18 which is stabilized, SEL55F18Z and SEL50F developed with Zeiss. For 85mm we have the SEL85F18 and SEL85F14GM). As for wedding photography using a zoom that will allow you to face different scenes more easily would be recommended as well as extra batteries depending on the number of shots you are planning to take.
