“If the camera shoots 4K video, can it play back to an "ordinary" HDTV? I'm guessing the connection is HDMI, like my BluRay player. Does the TV ignore the data beyond 2K? Does the camera handshake with the TV and send a non-4K signal?”

• The HDMI connection communicates to the camera what the TV is capable of and the camera will replay videos at that resolution.

• yes unless someone disables the following feature in the settings, the camera normally auto adjusts the hdmi ouput stream to a lower res (1080 for example) when it detects that the connected tv won't do 4k (or isn't set to do4k).
