“When removing the backup battery, how do you slide it out? I just bought this radio and tried to take out the battery to make sure I could easy do so when having to replace it. It's easy to unscrew the cover, but I could not get the battery out. The directions say to slide it out and pick it up. I don't see how sliding it would work because of the way it is enclosed in its compartment. I also called Sony's troubleshooting #, but they were not helpful because the person was just looking up the directions and read to me exactly what my directions said. They weren't familiar with the products. Please help.”

Use a jewel screwdriver or a strong toothpick to lift it from the cradle.
