I could be wrong, but I think the best way to "DVR" is using the service your cable company provides. I have Comcast as my provider. They offer a terrific service for recording programs. I think as many as three different programs as you watch a fourth. I could be wrong about that . It might be two programs while you watch a third. However, there is a downside. It seems to cost "only pennies a day," and that's true. But pennies a day add up to over a hundred bucks a year. I think they charge me $10 a month for the service. It's extensive., but expensive. I get over 100 hours in HD. I can save these programs, literally, for years. I make it a habit NEVER to watch commercials. I can watch sports in ridiculously short amounts of time using Fast Forward. Commercials are ruining all sports, as you know. There's also a slo-mo feature which comes in handy a lot. Electronics stores like Best Buy also offer a DVR box, I think. I'd be surprised if it offers as many features as does what you can get from your cable company. The advantage of buying the DVR outright is you pay once and that's it, not like the cable company where you never stop paying. I HATE cable. They offer a lot, but they charge a lot, and if you're a TV lover like me, their services become addictive. The government needs to intervene. Cable companies often operate without competition. When they do operate with competitors in the same area, their prices come down and you can work deals. Like everything else these days, nothing is simple. Everyone is looking to lighten the load you keep in your wallet and checking account. I have found the people at Best Buy to be helpful. I've found they are not big fans of the cable companies either. Good luck. ,
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The unit is only a Blu-Ray player. But what a picture when playing older DVDs, However it will play DVD-R and DVD-RW plus the same for CD audio.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, but the playback of older standard DVDs is excellent for larger screens. And since its also wireless, it includes many of your favorite streaming sources for movies if you subscribe to any not needing to record movies. As an FYI I have visited an excellent local recycle store that had Blu-Ray titles I wasn't expecting for $5.00 with clean disks. I hope that helps.
