Does this player connect to wifi and support apps? null

Hi EMP, Thanks for reaching out with your question about the BDP-S1700U. This Blu-ray player does not have built-in Wi-Fi. It is designed to be connected to the internet using a wired Ethernet cable. Regarding apps, the player does offer some pre-loaded streaming services, but it does not support the installation of new apps.
