Thanks Bod for your great question! Sony OTC hearing aids have an active noise management system which helps to optimize sound in a variety of listening environments. This is not the same as active noise cancellation (ANC). Sony OTC hearing aids do NOT offer hearing protection. If you will be exposed to loud and potentially dangerous noise, it is strongly encouraged to remove your hearing aids and use hearing protection devices that are adequately rated to reduce the amount of noise in the environment.
