• Hi Mary, the Sony DT 55-300mm is an A-mount type of lens while the Sony a5100 is an E-mount type camera. The lens will not fit in. However, you may use the LA-EA4 or LA-EA3 Sony A-mount to E-mount lens adapter to make it work. Hope this helps. -Anthony

• The 55-300mm lens is a A mount lens. If your camera is a E mount you will have to find an attachment ot use it.
