“What exactly does "refurbished" mean? What was wrong with the product in the first place? How can I be reassured it is a quality product?”

Somebody returned for whatever the case may be, however it is thoroughly serviced by Geek Squad to it's original state. If it's Geek Squad you will never have an issue ever, it's guaranteed. If it's refurbished from Marketplace you may or may not have as good customer service.
