Yes the V series Battery is a replacement for the H series battery and has a 15% longer life than what is reported for its H series Equivalent in the users manual. recording time is determined by the conditions and resolution when filming. for example The NP-FH70 with continuous recording tile has an average of 140 minutes on HD and 170 minutes on SD Typical recording time ( with starts stops zooming) - 70 minutes with continuous recording and 80 minutes SD

They have a chart with the batteries showing what camera/camcorder. Your Sony camcorder comes with a 1 hour battery. I highly suggest you spend $100 and get the 4 hour battery. Especially for videoing the kids at school or at games, sporting, & special events. For the camera, get at least one battery for back-up. Sony products work great because I have 3 Sony camcorders & all are HD & all have extra batteries.
