Yes, plugging this in to a PS5 Slim with no disc drive will make the console act exactly like one that came with a drive from the factory. Fun fact: The normal Slim console and Digital Slim console are the same exact SKU. There is no difference between the two in terms of hardware. One just has the drive bundled in, and the other does not.
