I haven’t tested it with non-dualsense controllers. However, I can speak on the other questions. Plug it in. Toss the controllers on, you’ll hear them click in and light up. Let em charge! Quality is as expected for a charging dock for controllers. Design matches the PS5 Perfectly.

I haven't tried with off brand controllers but you do plug it into the wall. The quality is pretty good for $30.
