Yes, he will and can be able to speak and listen to the speaker.

I made a call and put the call on speaker (my iPhone gave me the option to use the pill). I was able to hear the other person over the speaker, but I could only hear the other person when they were near the speaker, not just near the phone. So I assume there is a mic on the speaker that takes over. Sounded great though.
