It connects thru the USB dongle, on both consoles the PS4 and PS5, you’ll get the regular 5.1 or 7.1 audio on the PS4 though, not the 3D audio you get on the PS5. If you ran a out of battery you can use the audio jack and connect to the controller on both consoles the PS4 and PS5, on the PS5 controller you can connect any type of headset and still get the 3D audio, the controllers does the conversion to 3D audio.
