Hi denimrider64, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. This grip uses Bluetooth 4.2 so the range is within 100 m or 300 ft. The NFC signal is very short and design for camera and the other unit to be placed next to each other to work correctly. The NFC only uses to establish the connection but the Bluetooth is the main connection for the wireless function. Thank you so much for your question.
