“Hi, recently bought this and loved the sound quality but sounded really quiet even at volume at full, connected to passive speakers, then out of nowhere it turned off then back on again and at what I assume is normal volume, then got quiet again, help?”

I expect that your receiver is defective and should be be replaced under warranty or by BestBuy. The first on I got from BestBuy did not play anything through the speakers and after less than a minute shut itself down. I took it right back and got a replacement that works unbelievably .

And to ensure you're getting an optimal listening experience, please follow the steps below: Check that all connecting cables are inserted to their input/output jacks on the receiver, speakers and the devices. Check that VOLUME on the receiver is not set to “VOL MIN”. Press SPEAKERS A/B to select a setting other than “OFF SPEAKERS”. The protective device on the receiver has been activated. Turn off the receiver, eliminate the short-circuit problem, and turn on the power again.
