Ok, it works like this, if you are hooking to speaker outputs you will get all sounds because everything comes from source. If you hook to subwoofer out you will get subwoofer signal only, now there are splitters you can purchase to do that if needed. Also some speakers mostly PA speakers have built in spitters for subs. Some subs have main in and speaker out wiring in rear of sub woofer to do what you want to do but then there are settings on subwoofer that must be set to match speakers. I think what you need is to hook to sub or subwoofer out from reciever to your subwoofer. If the reciever or amp dose not have that well an EQ could help creat sound your looking for. Or buy a reciever with sub output
