Does this item pick up FM signals well? null

It picks up more than my vehicles. Picks up the same as my Onkyo 7.2 massive beast.

You can also improve the FM reception if you're having an issue getting a good signal by following these steps: Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
